Welcome to the Upminster RFC under 13’s.  This is boys transition from the Mini/Midi to the Youth arena and I am happy to report that the vast majority of have stuck with us and we have gained four new members at the start of the season.

With 46 players we probably have the largest individual 13 squad anywhere. Our players are split between two teams the Lions and the Tigers. The squad is made up of boys who are all in year 8 at school and come from various parts of Havering and beyond.

Although we are a large squad we will never say no to any boy who wants to join. Anyone interested in joining should either email Dean via the link under the photograph in the top right hand corner, or come along to one of our training sessions (see training page) and speak to Dean or one of the coaches. You do not have to be the greatest player in the world, all we ask is that you give you best and listen to the advice offered by the coaches.

The under 13s’ are managed by Dean Martin and are coached by a team of enthusiastic and hard working coaches (see coaches page for further details).

Dean and the coaches are assisted by Tony Piggott, Membership Secretary, Karen Redhead, Social Secretary, Neil Conway & Colin Herring, Fitness Coaches and a network of willing and able parents.

Whilst the aim of the club is to introduce the boys to Rugby and to improve their rugby skills and general levels of fitness we do not forget the social side of things. The boys and girls have all made friends who will remain so for the rest of their lives. These friendships have been forged by playing alongside each other and supporting each other in victory and in defeat.

Although this squad is primarily about the children we do not forget about the parents!! There are plenty of opportunities for parents to socialize, be it at the club house bar after training or matches, in the evening on tour or at a local restaurant for an organized night out.
